What Is Skin Laxity?

With age, the body decreases its production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that give skin its firmness and elasticity. As a result, skin becomes looser and less supple, causing drooping, wrinkles, folds and an overall more aged appearance.

Radio frequency (RF) Microneedling

Radio frequency microneedling combines the benefits of microneedling with RF energy to rejuvenate your skin. A handheld device tipped with tiny needles is passed over your skin, delivering radio frequency energy into the microwounds it creates. The dual action of heat and superficial injuries promote long-term collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, tighter skin.

Good candidates are healthy people in their 30s–50s with mild-to-moderate skin laxity on the face, neck or under-eye area. It is safe for all skin tones.

Plasma IQ

Plasma IQ is a noninvasive cosmetic procedure that uses focused plasma heat to treat irregularities in the skin. The device discharges an electrical arc over the treatment area, briefly turning the air above the skin into a superheated form of matter called plasma. The heat generated by the plasma boosts elastin and collagen production to tighten and smooth your skin gradually.

This procedure treats loose skin on the face, neck and under-eye area. It works best on nonsmokers with light to medium skin tones between the ages of 30 and 50. You should not be pregnant or nursing when you receive a Plasma IQ treatment.

Laser Skin Tightening with Laser360

Laser360 Skin Rejuvenation combines several leading-edge technologies to rejuvenate and improve your skin. As a skin tightening treatment, it involves radio frequency microneedling and fractional ablative laser skin resurfacing. These procedures are administered separately over several laser treatment sessions and require no downtime.

Because of its wide range of applications, Laser360 is an effective option for people with skin laxity who also wish to address other skin concerns such as discoloration, pigmentation, broken blood vessels or acne scars. It’s safe for all skin tones and works best for people in their 30s–60s.

PDO Threads

Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are tiny, biodegradable threads placed underneath the skin using a thin needle. They’re inserted into the lower face, jaw or neck to create a scaffold around which new collagen will grow, lifting and smoothing the skin.

Because PDO threads are inserted with a very thin needle, they don’t leave any scars. Good candidates are healthy adults with mild-to-moderate skin laxity or who wish to prevent laxity proactively. PDO threads don’t require any downtime, although you’ll need to avoid certain activities in the 24–72 hours after treatment.

Silhouette Instalift

Silhouette Instalift is a rejuvenation procedure that tightens loose skin in the middle and lower part of the face. Sometimes called a nonsurgical facelift, it involves inserting dissolvable threads into the cheeks. These threads lift the skin up and back for an instantly younger, smoother look. Microcone technology in the threads encourages collagen production while your skin heals.

This procedure is suitable for almost anyone in good health with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.

FaceTite Facial Contouring

FaceTite is a minimally invasive RF-powered solution for loose skin on the lower face and neck. The procedure requires one tiny incision under each ear into which your provider will insert a thin cannula. They’ll then move the cannula beneath the skin while simultaneously passing an electrode across the surface. The two tools generate an electric field, heating the skin to melt excess fat and promote collagen production to generate  healthier, firmer tissue.

This procedure is ideal for healthy adults of any age who have loose skin on the chin, jawline and neck.
